 When/How to pick avocados? Posted 15 Jul 10 11:00 AM
I have a 3 year old Grafted Hass Avocado tree which has had 2 fruit on it for about a year now. The fruit are growing and look healthy. How do I know when to pick them, or should I wait until they drop off?

I believe you can pick them early (depending on how big you want them) and let them ripe on their own. To ripe faster, you can wrap the avocado in newspaper but keep an eye on them to avoid losing them.
My avocado tree in Christchurch is quite young (though 1.8metres) and I haven~t seen any sign of fruiting.
