Hi Guys
I have just moved to Waiouru and I'm looking to get some vegetables going......any suggestions of hardy varieties that can cope with the wild weather up here?
Thanks in advance

You should be able to plant anything you would usually grow - carrots, lettuces etc - you'll just need to be careful of late (and early) frosts. Starting things off under a plastic cloche or in a glasshouse might be the way to go.

I agree. You can certainly be able to cultivate what you want in your garden.

I grew up in Ohakune, and most vegetables will grow in colder weather, your main concern will be frosts in winter. Keep them covered in winter if you're worried. The only problem you'll run in to is you may end up planting seedlings out a bit later in spring than you would in other areas. :)
