Garden description: February 2012.
12 months on and our Burwood Garden - on the verge of the Burwood Red Zone - is in full flight.
The apricots and plums are eaten. The nectarines are long gone and the grapes are coloring beautifully.
The flower garden is doing its best - relying on rain and the occasional hand watering.
The veggie garden is doing better due to the close planting and the constant attention. Cultivating the soil between the rows sends to conserve the water, and fresh seedlings in the gaps break up the wind and slow down the evaporation.
The kitchen is enjoying corn, beans, carrots, and potatoes. Courgettes of various kinds make a welcome break and for a new planing the Egg Plant was a surprise.
Another new planting is Kumara - a few runners placed in a wheelbarrow that failed the liquefaction. The tops look great and I am anticipating great things.
