Garden description: Experience native bush and birds in the heart of Banks Peninsula. Rest and relax on your way to Akaroa and enjoy this rare ecological haven.

Manaia is home to stands of centuries old native tress, such as Kahikatea, Matai and Totara. Second growth hardwood species include Kanuka, Manuka, Manatu Kowhai, Kotukutuku, Tarata, Kawakawa, Mahoe and Puahou.

With only 2% of the native bush that once covered this area remaining Manaia is a unique haven for the biodiversity of Banks Penisula.

Walks through the eighteen acres range from a ten minute ramble to an hour long circumnavigation, which includes boardwalks and stunning views of the surrounding valley. Pinic by the riverside or stay overnight in the camping ground or cabins and waken to the dawn chorus of native birds.

We hope hope you will take your time to enjoy this special piece of real New zealand in Okuti Valley.

$5 per person, under 5′s free.
Open from 10am until dusk.
