Garden description: So we bought our own house and finally I am able to create my dream vegetable patch. When saying patch, it is more like a little farmland. We chose a piece of undeveloped land next to our house which was invaded by weeds. It is sloping so before we were able to create the patch, we had to make it accesible first so my husband is almost finished building a deck/boardwalk from the one side to the other side. We have also built a retaining wall extending it past the deck and used the same retaining blocks to create the "planter boxes" or "beds". Now the exciting bit comes as we will fill it up more with good soil and tidy up the deck, tidy up the little path in between with pebbles and then hopefully it will be ready for summer. Ok and I just realised I may need to let you know where the name came from - when there were only weeds in this area my little girls loved playing there picking Dandelions and calling it Sarie Marais's. We are South African so Sarie Marais relates to a folk song ...
