I am going to be also planting marigolds & yarrow to keep disease at bay.

I am experimenting with my garden this year & am creating a Lasagna garden - no there is no mince or cheese involved LOL, certainly tomatoes though & many different heirloom varieties.
I have made my soil out of layers & layers of cardboard, newspaper, hay small amount of top soil, Chicken & sheep poo (away fom plant roots as it burns), mulched up tree waste, seaweed - anything I can get my hands on really!!!! The plants were a little shocked with being planted in this & look a little raggedy but they have some amazing new growth coming through!!!
I have saved a huge amount of money so far & have learnt a great deal about soil - the foundation of gardening - if you dont have healthy soil you dont have healthy plants!!!!
